HUGH OLOFF de WET cold-cast resin sculpture - important bust of Dylan Thomas smoking a cigarette, raised upon his neckerchief, 26 x 12 ins (66 x 31 cms)¦¦Auctioneer`s Note and Provenance: Oloff de Wett was a member of Dylan Thomas`s social circle and he made small number of busts of the poet, a bronze example was selected to decorate the Royal Festival People`s Palace in 1950s, the series of busts are believed to be the only sculpted `in the life`. ¦¦The vendor took the bust to BBC`s `Antique Roadshow` in 2005 (and featured as a major interest item in BBC`s `Vintage Antique Roadshow` screened last year, 2013), where art expert Philip Moult described the piece as `...the most significant bust of Dylan Thomas ever produced` ¦¦
