TWO VICTORIAN WELSH PAISLEY SHAWLS & A WHITE NURSING SHAWL with the same family provenance dating back to the nineteenth century, first Paisley shawl with later multi-coloured fringe, 160 x 160cms, the second with original fringe, 176 x 176cms, the cream shawl with long fringe 200 x 180cms¦Provenance: the vendor can trace the three shawls back to the `mid-1800s` as they belonged to her great-great-grandmother Mary Davies of Rhiwfawr, Swansea Valley. Mary Davies had four children and nursed each of them in the `Welsh fashion` in the cream shawl while the Paisley shawls were `kept for best`, this tradition was then repeated by descent. The shawls have been well-preserved in a camphor wood chest for two generations
