Auction Review: October 2026
With four auctions, over 1,000 lots sold and a whole host of specialist auctions to prepare for in November, it was another busy month at Rogers Jones & Co. From stylish Mouseman furniture to Welsh rugby memorabilia, there was plenty on offer for buyers this October.
Number of auctions: 4
Number of lots sold: 1,176
Total hammer price: £156,470
13th October: Colwyn Bay Monthly
Our first auction of October offered a varied selection of furniture, silver and fine art, alongside an extensive collection of diecast model cars, model trains and vintage postcards.

20th October: Cardiff Monthly
Cardiff's monthly auction featured a great selection of furniture, including an Ercol dining table and chairs which attracted plenty of interest from bidders, alongside four lots of sought-after 'Mouseman' furniture.
Made from British oak and recognised by its distinctive adzed finish and carved mouse signature, Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's furniture continues to be popular with collectors. The top lot of the day was a striking organic-form table, which achieved £3,000.

12th-25th October: Groggs Galore: Timed Auction
It was a rugby fan's paradise this October, with 169 Groggs going under the hammer in our timed auction. There were a few welcome surprises, with Groggs of Phil Bennett and Bill McLaren, alongside a rare Mark Jones example, performing particularly well.
The top lot, however, was the limited-edition 'Captain's Climb to Kilimanjaro', commemorating the 2010 charity climb by fifteen former Welsh rugby captains to raise funds for Velindre Cancer Centre. It sold for £1,900 - over twice its top estimate.

27th October: Chester Monthly
Our final auction in October featured a large and varied selection of antique and oriental furniture, clocks, metalware and lighting.
Among the highlights was a stylish Art Deco table lamp which achieved more than three times its top estimate, while the top lot of the day was a fine Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos Classique Phases de Lune mantel clock, which sold for £3,400.
