Auction Review: July 2026

Featuring a large collection of silver and stylish furniture by Colin 'Beaverman' Almack, Barber Osgerby and more, our first sale in July had plenty to offer. Our top lot of the day, a Georg Jensen canteen of cutlery, proved especially popular, selling for more than £2,000 above its top estimate.

Our monthly auction at our newest saleroom featured furniture, rugs, ceramics, silver and fine art. The top lot of the day was a stunning engraved yellow metal bracelet, which attracted strong bidding.

It was a quick turnaround from April's Welsh Sale to our Summer Welsh Sale, and what a day it turned out to be! From dramatic Kyffin Williams oils to a delicate still life by Gwen John, there was plenty of variety. 

Though Kyffin unsurprisingly claimed the top spot, Lot 277 also deserves a mention: a portrait of the 4th Earl of Pembroke attributed to Cornelius Johnson (Cornelis Janssens van Ceulen). After attracting strong pre-sale interest, the painting sold for £19,000 against an estimate of £2,000-3,000, following a fierce bidding battle between three telephone bidders.

Technical problems meant the second part of the Welsh Sale was conducted from our Chester saleroom. We are enormously grateful to the entire team for their efforts in delivering the sale at such short notice! 

The top lot of the day was a beautiful watercolour album of British birds by the gifted artist, entrepreneur and ceramicist William Weston Young.
