    A GROHE BROTHERS OF PARIS CHEST having a marble top and being ormolu mounted in the Louis XVI style (see extensive images), last quarter 19th Century. Drawer bears stamp, 139cms high¦Auctioneer`s Note: German cabinet makers Guillaume and Jean-Michel Grohe moved to Paris to pursue their dream of establishing a high quality furniture business in around 1827. They exhibited widely and almost continuously in the period 1834 to 1878. They supplied Queen Victoria, Emperor Napoleon III and many European Royal houses and ultimately became the official suppliers of Louis-Phillipe. The brothers specialised in furniture that was inspired by historical styles and they were regarded as one of the finest cabinet makers of their time.¦¦
