Stuart painted four portraits as Dylan Thomas sat for him, two of which were purchased by Universities in the USA, the other is in the National Portrait Gallery, the remainder, a more `complete example` is being offered for sale in this special Dylan Thomas Centenary auction. The vendor is the artist himself who has kept arguably his most important painting at his Swansea home until now.¦¦It is presumed by academics that the four portraits are the last official portraits of the poet. With the other portraits from the sitting remaining in public collections, it is likely that this auction will be the last opportunity to acquire one of the four final portraits of the Welsh poet.¦¦One of the four portraits is the front cover of Andrew Sinclair`s Dylan Thomas biography `Dylan the Bard: A Life of Dylan Thomas`¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
