2021: A Year of Breaking Kyffin Records
We are proud to declare that we now hold the world auction records for a print, a work on paper and an oil by Wales' favourite artist, Sir Kyffin Williams RA
It has been a phenomenal year for selling works by Sir Kyffin Williams at our auction rooms. And the figures are impressive.
In our three Welsh Sale auctions in 2021 we have offered 88 x lots relating to Sir Kyffin Williams. Only nine of these prints, watercolours or oils failed to find new homes. The total accumulative price for Sir Kyffin Williams at The Welsh Sales in 2021 was £484,560
- Sir Kyffin's oil of Rhoscolyn, which sold in our July Welsh Sale for £62,000 (+BP), became the highest recorded auction price for the artist, exceeding our own record set in 2016
- Sir Kyffin's watercolour of ponies, which sold in our November Welsh Sale for £18,000 (+BP), became the highest recorded auction price for a work on paper by the artist
- Sir Kyffin's iconic Penrhyn Du print, sold in November for £2,800, and became the highest recorded auction price for a print by the artist.
It has been a record year for the Welsh Sale as prices have eclipsed £1.5m for the first time with Sir Kyffin leading the way.
Here in Wales, we believe that we have the best market for Sir Kyffin's work as we have a patriotic local market competing against art collectors UK-Wide. We have the experience and the knowledge.
Entries are now invited for works by Sir Kyffin Williams for our March 12 2022 Welsh Sale. Works can be collected easily from anywhere in the UK.
