Monthly Review: September
Number of sales: 5
Number of lots sold: 2,150
Total hammer price: £509,657
September was a memorable month to say the least, particularly in light of the incredible two day auction The Phillip Clarkson Collection: An Eye for Design.
The auction, held over two days, and compered by Adrian Byrne and Richard Hughes, comprised no less than 1024 lots, with only one lot (Lot 669) not making a sale under the hammer! Remarkable auctioneering by the two experienced rostrum jockeys!
Needless to say, from now on the unlucky number 669 will be retired.
Here is a review of a sensational month:
9th September: Cardiff Monthly
The first sale in September featured Welsh art and porcelain, mid-century furniture, silver, collectables, clocks, and lighting.

11th September: Jewellery, Coins & Watches
This carefully curated auction featured a sparkling array of jewellery, coins, and watches from our Cardiff and Chester salerooms.

15 September: The Philip Clarkson Collection (Part I)
The collection of a lifetime went on sale this month - an eclectic mix driven by a passion for mid-century design. The first part of the two-day auction featured Whitefriars and Murano glass, Goldscheider ceramics, enamel signs, British Railway signage, and vintage travel posters.

16th September: The Philip Clarkson Collection (Part II)
The second part of the Philip Clarkson sale featured guitars, music and movie memorabilia, sculpture, fine art, and pottery. With only one lot remaining unsold, it marked a strong finish to a marathon two-day auction.
This event was also significant as the final auction held at Pullman House, home of Byrne’s Auctioneers & Valuers since 2003.
All future Chester sales will now take place at our new saleroom: 6 Central Trading Estate, Marley Way, Saltney.

23rd September: North Wales Estates
The final auction in September featured antique and mid-century furniture, maps, model vehicles, and collectables.
