Monthly Review: November
Number of sales: 6
Number of lots sold: 2,055
Total hammer price: £1,123,563
It has been a very busy month at Rogers Jones & Co! With both our regular monthly auctions and three specialist sales, there was something for everyone to enjoy this November.
11th November: Cardiff Monthly
November kicked off in Cardiff with an interesting selection of fine art, Folio Society books, whisky, Welsh blankets, woven tapestries, ceramics, and furniture.

18th November: Colwyn Bay Monthly
This month’s auction at Colwyn Bay featured a beautiful collection of apothecary jars from a former pharmacy, alongside fine art, stereo equipment, and some wonderful examples of Welsh furniture.

20th November: Jewellery, Coins, Watches & Luxury
There was magic in the air as our most successful luxury sale of the year got underway. With an impressive selection of jewellery, coins, luxury bags, watches, teddy bears, and fine whisky, there was no shortage of perfect gifts for the festive season!
The first lot, a rare Harry Potter book, turned out to be the star of the sale, selling for more than three times its top estimate.
Top Lot: Rowling, J. K. Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone
Rare first edition, first issue signed by the author
£16,000

25th November: Chester Monthly
Chester’s final auction of the year featured silver, ceramics, rugs, cameras, Scandinavian jewellery, and furniture. Auctioneers Adrian Byrne and Richard Hughes stood for the entire event - and with over 600 lots, their feet must have been ready for a break!

27th November: Beyond Europe
Bidders from three continents joined us for this exciting specialist sale. The highlight of the auction came late in the day, when a Chinese porcelain bowl sold for more than ten times its estimate.

30th November: The Welsh Sale (Part I)
Our final sale of November proved to be one of the strongest of the year, with 93% of lots sold and a total hammer price of £572,650.
Works by Ray Howard-Jones, Peter Prendergast, David Griffiths, Jack Jones, Ogwyn Davies, and Valerie Ganz performed particularly well, and an unusual painting of a fish waiter by John MacFarlane drew significant interest.
It was Sir Kyffin Williams, however, who ultimately stole the show. His portrait of farmer John Williams soared past its £20,000–£30,000 estimate, and it is fitting that seven of the ten top-selling lots in November were by Kyffin.
