    SIR KYFFIN WILLIAMS RA oil on canvas - a fine early portrait (1945) of Elis Evans, a carpenter at Broom Hall, Pwllheli, who lived at Gegin, Abererch. Evans was a boy sailor on slate boats from Porthmadog; when a boat arrived at the Pool of London it blew up and Evans sustained an injury to the back of his neck with a large piece of slate. 21.5 x 15.5 ins (55 x 39 cms), (Provenance: with letters from the artist dated October, 1985 and May, 1988 referring to the work, also letters from Oriel Ynys Mon with reference to the appearance of the painting at the 1993 Kyffin Williams Retrospective at Oriel Ynys Mon. Sir Kyffin informed the vendor that he had swapped paintings with Mr Schlesinger and that he still had Mr Schlesinger`s painting hanging in his Anglesey home. Sir Kyffin also commented that he thought that this |Farmer and Dog| must have been one of the first that he had painted.
