A ONE OWNER COLLECTION OF VINTAGE AND CLASSSIC CAR MASCOTS, BADGES, RELATED BOOKS AND EPHEMERA
Born in 1938 in Liverpool the late Mr Neil Cresswell moved to Anglesey with his family as an eight year old. He grew up with an interest in motor cars which took him into a self-taught career in motor mechanics and repairs. He serviced the conveyors loading ships at Llanddulas quay and later worked on at the Northern Dairies motor pool in Mochdre.
When not working he would dedicate his time into his passion of restoring vehicles, including Land Rovers, Wolsey 1500s, Austin 8, Morris Minor, Rover 12s, 90s, 100s and 2000. Articles and interviews about his projects have appeared in local and national press over the years. Neil was one of the founding members of the Rover Enthusiasts Club and The Automobile Club of North Wales for classic and vintage motor vehicle in the 1980s.
He and his family would attend various car meets and rallies in their latest family classic car and he would often be called upon for his extensive mechanical knowledge of classic vehicles. In the 1960s Neil began collecting mascots and motor badges, his very first a Lincon greyhound for the princely sum of £13. The collection continued to grow over the next 40 or so years and his family has now decided to put the collection for sale and dispersal.
We believe that the collection was put together without purchasing at auction, making it a fresh to the market and possibly largest one owner collection offered in Wales.
