A 1950s CARDIFF RFC JERSEY NUMBER 2 ISSUED TO GARETH GRIFFITHS with traditional black and blue hoops, white collar, no crest, stitched number 2 in white. Umbro Bulldog label. Together with a black and white photograph of the player with ball in hand avoiding a tackle against Italy on October 4th 1956, a match they won 8-3. The reverse of the photograph with handwritten details and a letter from Cardiff RFC which would have accompanied the photograph, addressed to Griffiths dated `92 and a Cardiff v Northampton programme, April 7th, 1953¦Gareth Griffiths (1931 - 2016) was a versatile and speedy back, playing at wing or centre for Cardiff, capped by Wales 12 times and for the 1955 Lions in 12 tour matches including the final three tests. The Lions played 28 matches, winning 19, losing 6 and drew 3. Griffiths also played in the famous 8-3 win for Cardiff v All Blacks in 1953 and a month later in Wales last victory against the All Blacks.
