Sir Kyffin Williams (1918-2006)

The work of the artist Sir Kyffin Williams, who died on September 1st 2006, continues to capture the imagination of the Welsh public. His dark, dramatic landscape oils of Snowdonia, evocative sketches of Welsh farming folk as well as scenes of Patagonia and Venice have assumed an iconic status amongst not only the Welsh, but art lovers countrywide.

The artist himself is an icon here too, affectionately known as simply "Kyffin - Wales’ greatest living artist”. As auctioneers of Welsh art, located as we are, close to the late artist's beloved home on Anglesey, we have been priveleged over many years to have been given the helpful "ear" of Sir Kyffin, as well as many humourous anecdotes.
